Winnie the Pooh Visits Madres Espresso

One misty Olympia morning, Winnie the Pooh awoke with a rumbly in his tumbly—not for honey, surprisingly, but for something warm and mysterious called coffee. Christopher Robin had once spoken fondly of a magical little drive-up coffee stand called Madres Espresso, where delicious drinks were handed to you right through a window. Pooh, not one to drive, borrowed a red Radio Flyer wagon and hitched it to Eeyore (who sighed but agreed).

As they rolled up to the cheerful stand nestled beneath tall trees, Pooh marveled at the painted menu. So many delightful names! “Excuse me,” he called to the friendly barista at the window, “might I try a honey latte—with just a bit more honey, if it’s not too much trouble?”

The barista blinked, then smiled. “Of course, sweet bear. Coming right up.”

Piglet popped out of the wagon’s blanket pile, clutching a warm blueberry muffin bigger than his head. Tigger bounced alongside them, startling a few sparrows and narrowly missing the specials board. “Try the triple shot!” he declared. “It’s bouncy!”

Pooh took his drink carefully in both paws. The cup was warm, the foam art shaped like a tiny bee. “How thoughtful,” he said, sipping with a hum of deep contentment. “This coffee thing is almost as nice as naptime.”

The Hundred Acre crew parked nearby, enjoying their treats while the fog lifted off the evergreens. Cars lined up behind them, windows cracked with laughter and the smell of espresso drifting into the air.

As they rolled away, Pooh turned back for one last look at Madres Espresso. “What a splendid window,” he mused aloud. “I do like a place where joy comes right to you without needing to go inside.”

And with that, they clattered off—warm drinks in paw and adventures ahead.
