A World Without Coffee: Imagine the Horror

Imagine waking up one morning and realizing… there’s no coffee. Not a bean, not a brew, not a latte in sight. The entire world has gone decaf — literally. The smell of freshly ground beans? Gone. The cheerful hiss of espresso machines? Silent. The line at your favorite coffee stand? Nonexistent — but not in a good way.

Without coffee, mornings would become an Olympic event in sheer willpower. Offices would be eerily quiet, not because people are working efficiently, but because everyone’s too tired to talk. Meetings would start at noon (if at all), and “Monday motivation” would be replaced with “Monday mourning.” Productivity apps would boom; naps would become a corporate perk.

And what about our beloved baristas? They’d be out there, holding empty cups, reminiscing about the days when a double shot could turn a zombie into a functioning human being. Latte art would be replaced by… what? Hot water doodles? Herbal tea foam? The horror!

Let’s not forget how much coffee connects us. It’s not just a drink — it’s a ritual. It’s how we start conversations, find inspiration, and survive deadlines. Without it, first dates would be awkward (“Want to grab a… chamomile?”), and friendships would suffer (“Sorry, I can’t vent properly without a mocha in my hand”).

Sure, tea drinkers might try to claim the spotlight, and energy drinks would surge in popularity, but let’s be honest — nothing could ever replace that warm, comforting, soul-awakening first sip of morning coffee. It’s more than caffeine; it’s culture, comfort, and community all in one cup.

At Madres Espresso in Olympia, we’re profoundly grateful that the world does have coffee — rich, aromatic, perfectly brewed coffee. Every cup we serve is a tiny rebellion against a world that would dare to go without it. So here’s to early risers, night owls, and everyone in between — may your cups always be full, your espresso always strong, and your mornings infinitely better with a stop at Madres Espresso. Because honestly, life’s just too short — and too sleepy — for a world without coffee.
